POEM: MY NEIGHBOUR

 Poem

Title: My neighbour
Who is my neighbour, I often ask,
In this world so vast and diverse?
Is it the one who lives next door,
Or the stranger I meet on the street?
Is it the one who shares my beliefs,
Or the one who holds a different view?
Is it the one who looks like me,
Or the one who comes from a different hue?
Is it the one who speaks my language,
Or the one who uses different words?
Is it the one who eats the same food,
Or the one who savours different flavours?
But then I realize, my neighbour is more,
Than just a physical proximity or similarity.
My neighbour is anyone in need,
Who can benefit from my humanity.
My neighbour is the one who suffers,
From hunger, injustice, or oppression.
My neighbour is the one who needs love,
And compassion, without any exception.
So I open my heart to the world,
And embrace everyone as my own.
For we are all connected as one,
In this beautiful world we call home.
And in the end, it doesn't matter,
Who is my neighbour or who is not.
For we are all part of the same family,
And we all deserve to be loved and sought.
